Barbara Green has been painting since her teens. She received
formal art training while at Trent ParkTeacher Training College, where
she specialised in Art. During her teaching career she continued
to paint as well as teaching Art to junior school pupils. For some years, Barbara was a member of the Milton Keynes Print Making Group. A few years ago she formed the Morcombelake Art Group and with the help of other members still organizes the activities of this group. She takes workshop sessions for many local Art Societies.
A versatile artist, Barbara works in a variety of media – oils,
watercolours, collagraphs, etching, monoprinting and batik. Her choice
of subject matter is inspired by her immediate home environment,
the Dorset landscape and travels abroad. She particularly admires
the work of the Fauves and the Scottish colourists.
During Dorset Art Weeks, Barbara has welcomed many visitors
to her studio in Morcombelake. She has also had successful one-
woman exhibitions in Andover and Yeovil and shared exhibitions in Salisbury, Milton Keynes, Bridport, Abbotsbury, Wareham, Ilminster, Lyme Regis, Portland and Beaminster. She has won several Art Awards including the Jean George Memorial Prize in the Lyme Regis Open exhibition.
